We’re leaving Montréal today. This city is pretty awesome. On Sunday we went to Tam-Tam in Parc Montréal, which is basically a giant-ass drum circle in the middle of the park. Good times. At the end of the night we went to a place called Barfly and watched some bluegrass bands. Some were good…some were not….some were GREAT. There was a moderately attractive girl who became super-model like when her unbelievable fiddle skills were revealed. Good times. Oh, and there was a drunk Russian dude who kept taking off his shirt and nearly falling on the stage. He spilt beer on my new shoes.
Yesterday we went to Arts Café on Fairmount and Casa Del Popolo on Saint-Laurent. But that pails in comparison to the end of the night when we went to see The Bowerbirds at La Sala Rossa. This is the second time I’ve seen them live and they are fantastic. This time they had a band called Megafaun that opened for them and they were just as good; really nice guys too. I’m really starting to love the North Carolina Alt-folk music scene. Megafaun, Bowerbirds, Bon Iver…great bands. I bought their LP…which looks like this:
I also bought the Bowerbirds new LP…which looks like this.
I can’t wait to get home to hear them. If you haven’t heard either of these bands check out their myspace’s. www.myspace.com/bowerbirds and www.myspace.com/megafaun.
Now we head to Belleville to play the Organic Underground tonight. Should be fun. WHOOO!!!
Oh, and here’s this:
Genießen!!!
