St. Catherines/Niagara Falls with the Kobbler

Hey everybody,

Another update from ye olde summer mini-tour.  We played in Belleville last night at the Organic Underground.  Definitely our best performance, although not the best turn-out.  Great place though; if you’re ever in Belleville, it’s definitely the place to go.

Right after the show I received a rather distressing call from my grandmother that my mom was in the hospital…again.  But she’s as okay as expected these days and she’s back home.  She’s tough and hopefully she gets better.  Thankfully we were on our way back to Cobourg anyway, so nothing changes.

Today we sit in a small café in St. Catherines awaiting my good friend Kobbler Jay Henderson the renowned street performer.  He lives in Niagara Falls and has been bugging me for years to come see him, so after we play our show tonight at Strega Café, we’ll spend a day and a half in The Falls.  After that we head back toward Windsor with one final stop in Chatham on Friday.

Oh, I also purchased copies of my two favourite Springsteen LP’s.  The River and Nebraska.  Nebraska is apparently hard to find so I’m pretty happy about that.  Springsteen is one of my all-time favourite protest artists.  Born in the USA is one of my favourites…and yes…it’s a protest song.

Watch this…love me some boss

good old bruce. y’know, no one ever seems to talk about this track, but buried near the end of “the river” is one of my favourite springsteen songs ever—”drive all night”. when bruce howls “heart and soul” over and over again until it sounds like his chest is about to explode, it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up every time. and i don’t have a very hairy neck, so that’s no mean feat.
